Surface is a 15 episode mini-series. It was shown originally in 2005 and it honestly shows. Now, here is the summary:
Ever wonder what life would be like if a new form of sea life began to appear in locales all over the planet? In this expansive drama, those who are about to find out include some naval officers in the South Antarctic Sea, a family in San Diego, scientists from the Oceanographic Institute in Monterey, and fishermen in the Gulf of Mexico. The seemingly innocent creatures they find are beautiful, and kids may even want to play with them -- but is there something more to them? One thing's for sure: They're full of surprises.
This series is not the best one I have ever watched. The plot has a lot of potential but the acting is slightly weird. I personally could not get into it and had to stop in the second episode. The first episode had nothing to hook me and make me want to watch more. In the two episodes I watched the creature was alluded to but never seen. It just gives it a dumb feel, like the animators didn't know what they were doing so they had to hide the creature. This is probably intended to build suspense but it just seemed weird. Also, the way that the show skipped to and from characters was not as smooth as it could have been and overall disorienting. This show is not something I would usually watch and did nothing to impress me. I do think that this is a cool concept and could be very awesome and immersive, I just think they went about it in a wrong way. In my research I finally got to see the creature and it is adorable.

I give this show a two star because it had the potential to be awesome, but it did not present itself in a good way. I recommend this to people into aquatic life and science fiction. Remember this is just my opinion and you could have a different experience.
